ISIS rising again in Syria

Deir Ezzor province: SOHR sources have reported that members of ISIS cells attacked, with machineguns, two oil trucks belonging to the Autonomous Administration in the area between Al-Atal roundabout checkpoint and Al-Rai checkpoint on the road to Al-Omar oil field in eastern Deir Ezzor countryside. The attack left the drive of one of the two trucks injured, and he was taken to the hospital for treatment.

SOHR has documented 169 operations carried out by ISIS, including armed attacks, executions and explosions targeting military and security forces, in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration since early 2024. According to SOHR statistics, these operations left 85 fatalities:

  • 53 members of SDF, the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) and other military formations operating in areas under the control of the Autonomous Administration.
  • 11 ISIS members.
  • Four guards worked for the Autonomous Administration.
  • 21 civilians, including a child and a witch.

These operations are distributed regionally as follows:

  • Deir Ezzor: 146 attacks left 40 combatants, 15 civilians, including a child and a witch and seven ISIS members.
  • Al-Hasakah: 13 attacks left seven combatants, four ISIS members and a civilian dead.
  • Al-Raqqah: Nine attacks left six combatants and four guards of civil institutions of the Autonomous Administration dead.
  • Aleppo: One operation. — The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights
