GRAPEVINE, Texas (ANS) — The last day of NRB (National Religious Broadcasters) 2021 featured former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, interviewed by Joel Rosenberg, a panel discussion on Christian unity, and a closing gala with keynote speaker, Os Guinness.
According to writing for National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), the day began with a morning devotion from Dr. Jim Denison, co-founder and Chief Vision Office of the Denison Forum—part of Denison Ministries. Denison shared on the topic of God redeeming all that he allows.
The main session of the morning featured a conversation with former Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and Joel C. Rosenberg, best-selling author and editor-in-chief of All Israel News. A lot has happened in the Middle East over the last several years and nobody has been at the center of these developments more than Pompeo. In this special session, Rosenberg interviewed the former Secretary of State and CIA director about Israel, the Abraham Accords, and the state of the Middle East. They also discussed important developments in international religious freedom.
Pompeo said he believed it was important to stress that his Christian beliefs impacted his decisions as Secretary of State. If a country did not treat its citizens as if they are made in the image of God, then the best interest of the United States to secure freedom was to approach that country with a lot more caution and boldness.
At the close of this conversation, Troy Miller, CEO of NRB presented Pompeo with the NRB President’s Award. The NRB President’s award is presented to an individual who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the faith and values upheld by the association—and more importantly by the scriptures.
Following this session, Dan Darling, Senior Vice President of Communication at NRB, hosted a panel discussion with journalist and author Billy Hallowell and pastor Christopher Brooks on pursuing Christian unity in this digital age.
“We have a sin problem,” Brooks said. “There is a spiritual battle where we have an enemy waging war against the church wanting to divide us because he knows the gates of hell cannot stand against the church when we are united.”
The panel discussed practical ways that Christians—and especially Christian communicators can pursue unity rather than the divisiveness that seems to prevail on social media and in our culture.
The afternoon included talks and workshops in the exhibit hall covering a range of topics including pitching a script, fundraising, acting and producing, branding, video and lighting tricks and more.
The film pitch-a-thon took place on Thursday afternoon, giving film writers and creators the opportunity to pitch their work to a variety of major producers.
NRB 2021 concluded on Thursday evening with a closing gala dinner with special service awards. Dr. Os Guinness gave the keynote address at the gala, calling Christians to faithfulness and urging Christian communicators to share the message of truth to a desperately needy world.
“We are those who know words matter,” Guinness said. “A word created the world, and words can still create worlds of justice and beauty and peace.”
NRB CEO Troy Miller closed the evening clearly excited about an incredible week at NRB 2021. He said that the networking, workshops, and worship were great, but that there was something even better about NRB 2021.
“All of that boils down to one thing: we are here to be a part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are here for the kingdom of God,” Miller said. “If what we are doing is not advancing God’s kingdom, then we need to stop what we’re doing.”
